About me

My name is Luisa Bott and – as with most people who find themselves in publishing at some point – literature has always been my passion.

I was born and raised in Germany and have been an avid reader of various genres since childhood. While there is always the issue of what to do with this passion, my goal was clear very early on: I wanted to work with books. Unsurprisingly, this passion and my shared interest in history and modern media drove me to pursue both subjects through my university studies.

My enthusiasm for and firm grip on the German language resulted in my pursuit of a Master's degree in New German Literature during which I received the opportunity to gain initial experiences in proofreading – be it for fellow students, my lecturers, or first publishers.

My experiences at university shaped my professional interest in literature and led to my employment with one of the leading independent academic publishers in Germany. At this job, I worked as editor of the literature studies, art, and linguistic programme for several years. Simultaneously, I supported authors through the publication process while managing their book projects in correspondence and collaboration with different departments involved.

After moving to the UK in 2024, I decided to take the plunge and use the skills I acquired, my valuable insights in the publishing industry, and my passion for literature as well as academic writing to work as a freelance editor and project manager. With this career change, I want to offer my support and help refine your projects in accordance with your individual requirements.
